Yuan Huang (26 December 1533 - 14 August 1606), originally named Table, with the characters Yifu and Kunyi, later changed his name to Huang, and then changed his character to Qingyuan, with the name Xuehai, and later called Dafan, and was known as ‘Mr. Dafan’. He was a famous thinker, official and writer in the Ming Dynasty. He was born in Wujiang County, Suzhou Prefecture, South Zhili Province (present-day Jiangsu Province), and later became a naturalised citizen of Jiashan County, Jiaxing Prefecture, Zhejiang Province.
